This was a varied and for the most part interesting hike in the largely underrated and undiscovered (for now) Anza-Borrego State Park in California. Located a couple hours north east of San Diego it’s a pretty awesome desert park that I really hope I can spend some more time in. We started out hiking up to West Butte which overlooks a lot of the seemingly barren and vast park, with views of the Salton Sea in the distance. From here we descended into a wash and followed the maze around (in the baking sun) for a couple miles until the wash slowly narrowed and turned into a pretty impressive slot canyon. Who knew you didn’t have to go all the way to Utah!
